Editing.

Copy and Content Editor.

Talia is a certified proofreader, and a seasoned copy and content editor. She specializes in long-form manuscripts, especially memoir and creative nonfiction. 

Talia's rates are $100/hour for all editing.

Proofreading
Proofreading should be done after all other editing takes place. It is the last look over the manuscript to make sure there are no technical flaws after all edits have been made.

Approximately 8-10 pages/hour.​

Copyediting
Addressing the flaws on a technical level. This includes, but is not limited to, spelling, grammar, punctuation, tense, capitalization, syntax, inconsistencies, continuity, extraneous words and repetition, etc.

Approximately 6-8 pages/hour.

​Content editing
Addresses the bigger picture. This includes, but is not limited to, the structure of the manuscript; plot holes or character flaws; use of language for flow, clarity, tone, meaning; redundancies or inconsistencies in character, plot, or description; word choice; pointing out the need for clarification, tightening, or better transitions.

Content editing should be done prior to copyediting.

Approximately 4-6 pages/hour.

Comprehensive/Line editing  
Sometimes known as developmental editing, or substantive editing, comprehensive editing combines both copyediting and content editing.

Approximately 2-4 pages/hour.

Please note that the page ranges are merely approximations, and will vary depending on how much work is required for each job. There is minimum charge of $300/job.

​Rates are for double spaced, 12pt, Times New Roman font with standard margins.
